Ancora a proposito di un problema (elementare?) di termodinamica
In this note we present some remarks on the prediction of the equilibrium state in a horizontal, rigid, adiabatic cylinder divided into two chambers by an adiabatic piston. The two chambers contain two gases 1 and 2, at different pressures and temperatures. The piston is initially kept from moving by a pin, which is then released. We show that by applying the II law of thermodynamics, separately to each of the subsystems 1 and 2, it is possible to predict, in the pure thermodynamics framework, upper and lower bounds for the final temperatures of the two gases.
